The mark of peace
A wonderful guy, Jim, lives around the corner from me and provides wonderful massage. Worth every penny. Jim, who is a gentle person, has really strong hands that can squeeze out the tension of a hard day (or a hard life). Plus he has a MONEY Japanese hot tub which I think is retro fabulous. He and many of his friends were at the peace march this past weekend and he sent along this picture to me from the march. I had to miss the march as I was out of town - but it had the spirit of the anti-war marches before the war began. I went to several of them in San Francisco with hundreds of thousands of others. Kevin found the march to be very rewarding - he felt it restored faith in America and your fellow citizens.
I really liked this image - the shadows speak to the ephemeral nature of peace. It only can be seen as a by-product of the bright light of day and life. Once the illumination is removed, peace cannot be seen or acheived. Violence and malice linger in the darkness of the heart. Only the bright light of our collective action can effect peace.
